Dear Puzzle People,
Most people live near a body of water, and I believe that the type of water you grew up around stays special to you for the rest of your life. For some this might be lakes, oceans or wetlands, but for me it is rivers.
One of my earliest nature memories is my dad teaching me to skip stones on the river. This activity was 9 parts looking for the perfect skipping stone and 1 part throwing. If you are a fellow stone skipper, you know that stone selection is important. The stone has to be not so light that it will catch the air, round so it will easily spin off the fingers and above all FLAT.
My dad knew the names of all the rocks. He’d drop words like igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. That was the beginning of my lifelong fascination with rocks. He instilled in me a wonder for the world around me that I am grateful for.
Today I have a river stone word search for you. I hope you enjoy it.
Wishing you moments of quiet joy,
Riddle Valentine
